Sleeping in Seattle

We've reserved a block of rooms at the Alexis Hotel in downtown Seattle. It is located at 1007 1st Avenue, Seattle, Washington, 98104. This is at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Madison; see their map. The Alexis Hotel is also the site of our rehearsal dinner (taking place in its Library Bistro), and is the departure/arrival point of the wedding shuttle.

You can make reservations directly with the Alexis Hotel's Reservation Department by calling (206) 516-5093, or their Central Reservations number at (800) KIMPTON. Make sure to request the "Matthies/Elson" party to get our block rate. (This is important -- believe it or not, our block rate is much lower than the market rate!) Block rates are $229 per night for a King Deluxe room and $249 for a Queen/Queen Deluxe Room. Washington state occupancy tax is 15.6%. As long as the hotel has availability, they'll offer these rates for three days post and three days prior to the event.

A lower-cost option is the Pensione Nichols, a European-style bed and breakfast. ("European style" is code for "be ready to share your bathroom with other guests.") This hotel is at 1923 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98101: only six blocks from the Alexis, so you'll be able to walk to the site of the rehearsal dinner and wedding shuttle. Their summer rates are $99 for single occupancy, $135 for double occupancy, $150 for triple occupancy, and $245 for a 4-person suite. This price includes breakfast but not tax. If you're considering staying here, please book early--you can cancel without penalty up to 48 hours before your stay. To book, call (206) 441-7125.

There is so much to see and do just steps from both hotels!
